I've been thinking about doing this for a while now, but it was rlly my BF who convinced me too.

This is called the Question Game. You comment and ask me a question. It can be anything: funny, humorous, racy, serious, embarrassing, whatever. I have to answer it honestly. The catch is that I get to ask you a question, and you have to answer it also. We go back and forth like that until someone gives up or we get tired of playing.

Ready? Go!

I . . . don't actually know. I can ask Tracie the Brake Lady tomorrow. I'm sure she will know, she's been doing this job longer than I have been alive. Off the top of my head, I'm going to guess "cost."

Why is it that when I tried to DDR today I got dizzy fast and remained dizzy through my entire shower?

Date: 2007-08-20 12:42 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
Maybe you started DDRing too fast. Or you didn't have enough water or sugar in your system. Or it was stupid hot outside. Any number of reasons works.

If you had to pick... spicy or sweet?

Date: 2007-08-20 01:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
I'm going with low sugar. Seeing as my total consumption for the past twenty-four hours at that point had been a handful of blueberries.

Spicy. Don't get me wrong, I like sweet, but sweet gets boring after a while, whereas there are dozens of different spicies. Thai spicy and Indian spicy and BBQ spicy and Mexican spicy, just to start.

How rare should Beef be?

Date: 2007-08-20 02:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lit-master.livejournal.com
Yeah, that would do it.

Beef's "correct" temperature depends on who you ask. 160F to kill E. coli. 140F to kill evil food poisoning. Realistically, 135F is a good "rare" temp, 140F for med-rare, 145F for medium, 150F for well done. 180F for stew meat. 140-150F is a good all-purpose temp for things like stir fry or pasta sauce or stuffs. But technically if you have the garlic for it you could just eat beef raw. It's called steak tartare.

Personally, when going for rare I check for feel and blood flow more than temp. when the blood flows a certain way and it has the right give it's good.

How rare do you like beef to be?

Date: 2007-08-20 02:52 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
Still mooing, unless it's chaulnt or briscit.

How about you?

Date: 2007-08-20 03:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lit-master.livejournal.com
Eh, depends on the cut. I like my steaks just warmed on the inside, cooked just enough to get a great Maillard going on the surface. Hamburgers I like in the med-rare area but ground beef for other purposes I prefer in the 140-150F range. I really despise beef cooked to above 150F because up there it loses all moisture and gets all tough and kinda tasteless and pointless.

What about chicken? Grilled, fried, baked, broiled, braised, or souped?

Date: 2007-08-20 03:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
What a question to ask a Jew. Souped, of course. As in "chicken soup and matzah balls." My mother also does very good rice crispy chicken, though that tends to be a bit dry. Poultry often is, though.

Which animal would you absolutely never eat, no matter how much you were paid?

Date: 2007-08-20 04:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
Eh, poultry is less dry if you know what you're doing. It needs just a little bit of the fat left on it which then melts into things and keeps it not-dry. Like turkey. Basting sucks but if you shove about a stick of butter up under the skin on the breast you can keep almost the entire bird from being dry.

Tarantula, I think. Just because I can't stand picking them up. Other than that if it won't kill me I'll usually eat it.

This is a weird and blasphemous question. Is longpork kosher?

Date: 2007-08-20 08:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
It's okay, I'm not a Black Hatter. No, longpork is not Kosher.

Out of curiosity, why did you want to know?

From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
Morbid curiosity. With extra morbid, I guess. No real reason.

Why is it there are no good movies anymore?

Date: 2007-08-21 12:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
It's your taste in movies. I like happy fluffy funny ones, and the market produces things like shrek and Stardust for me. Whereas you probably like The Ring and the original Creature from the Black Lagoon, and I don't think the market makes bad B-movies anymore . . .

What kind of movies do you like?

Date: 2007-08-21 04:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
In general I like intelligently done movies. For instance I liked Shrek but felt Shrek 3 tried too hard. I am fond of the old movies like the original The Blob, Bela Lugosi's work, and the original Creature from the Black Lagoon. I prefer my movie to have a story in it or at least some history behind it but in addition it also has to be well made.

Which in this day and age usually means WWII movies, well-made historicals, and modern-day Chinese and Thai films. Japanese film is a whole nother animal and one that I tend to not like as much if only for the sheer amount of anime influence in it.

...but then sometimes you're just in the mood to watch Bruce Willis blow up a helicoptor using a car.

And hey, the market makes bad B movies all the time. Peter Jackson was the New Zealand king of bad B movies before LOTR. And the Baldwins come out with new movies every month, all of them low budget bad B movies.

Have you ever seen a Chinese soap opera?

See, I have learned a Thing.

Does Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon count as a Chinese soap?

(Hah! Answered the question with a question!)

Date: 2007-08-21 08:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a mediocre Chinese film. Its main redeeming quality in the eyes of the masses is the awesome stunts. Feh, if I wanted awesome stunts I'd pick up any Thai film there is.

So you've never seen a real Chinese soap opera?

Date: 2007-08-21 09:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
Not that I know of, then, no.

Why is it important?

Date: 2007-08-21 09:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
No, not really important. Just that after seeing one and going "wow, cool!" you find american film kinda lacking.

Why does boredom remove the ideas necessary to combat boredom?

I don't know, but it's not a new problem. St. Augustine in the fifth century wrote and entire rant on the problem.

Do the Chinese have Sitcoms?

They probably do. I just don't watch them.

So how long do you think this question game will go on? Neither of us seems to letting up.

Date: 2007-08-22 01:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
My goal was to hit 69 comments, which we passed a while back. So honestly, until one of us forgets to post to this thread. I once played a question game on a forum that died at somewhere over 500 pages . . . good times.

Do you know any form of martial arts?

Date: 2007-08-22 03:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
Nope. Google-fu is not a recognized martial art. The fighting techniques I know are not martial arts, they are born of the streets. Like switchblade knife-fighting. And I'm learning the whip.

What about you. Do you know any fighting styles?

Date: 2007-08-22 03:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
Some. When I was a likkle munchkin (2nd grade) I took karate for two years. More recently, I took Tang Soo Do for a semester. I also know a few hold breaks, limb breaks, and judo throws. Really simple stuff, but effective. You probably know more useful things, though.

Is trying to fit a family tree for the Norse gods/giants on one peice of paper a futile task?

Date: 2007-08-22 11:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
Depends. Is firing a rifle "useful"? Especially since I don't know handguns.

Not as futile as the incestuous Greek gods but yes. Unless you have a giant piece of paper then the theological family tree is kinda wtf.

Why is it people who walk into my store believe they can let their kids run wild and it's okay? Do I look like a babysitter?

(ha ha, double question)

Date: 2007-08-23 12:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
I think it depends on the time you have and distance you are shooting from . . .

Norse gods are incestuous too. I'm just trying to plot out how the Loki/Baldr pairing relates to everyone. It's hella complicated.

In the single picture of you I have ever seen, you looked very Domme, not babysitterish at all. I don't know. My parents never did. Anytime we went to Shul, for example, I made a peep (much less run wild) and I was out of the sanctuary. I took ruthless advantage of this fact, too . . .

Can you teach me the mental bitchslap? There are some people I want tomentally bitchslap >.>

Date: 2007-08-23 12:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lachattenoire13.livejournal.com
If the single pic of me you've seen involves me in a red corset (and it probably does) then that explains it because that pic was taken of me at the Folsom Street Fair which is this awesome street fair for the SF S/M leather culture. Because this is San Francisco and we can totally just have street fairs with naked people and the cops show up to take part in it.

The motions for the mental bitchslap are easy, they involve holding your invisible target by the neck and slapping them once acorss the face while you make the sound effect. But in those instances where the motions are not good or awesome then the mental bitchslap involves either a specific type of glare or the invocation of lots and lots of awesome directed at mental beat-down.

Why is braiding hair so hard? Mine is long enough to be braided normally but it's too thick and so makes a very short braid that prevents me from finishing it.

Date: 2007-08-23 12:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanarill.livejournal.com
Yes, it does. I'd like to be SF at least once for a con . . . I can mooch off relatives in the area :>

I have the glare down pat, according to my family. It's the awesome I need to work on. And the sound effects.

I don't know. I usually get MW to start my braid. Tips:
1. Start braid while hair is wet. That way, it's not frizzy while you try to braid.
2. Spend some time at the beginning on getting the hair amount equal, the better you do this the closer to the tips of your hair you can get.
3. Get Pet to do it. I can get MW to do the whole thing about half the time, it's wonderful mother/daughter bonding . . .
4. Braid so tight it hurts. You can sleep with a tight enough braid, it won't some undone or frizz at all.

Is that is any way helpful?
