Okay, so, work term is over, vacation is over, and now it is time for more school. Classes this term:
OChem II
OChem II Lab
ProbStats
Comm II
Programming and Algorithms
Programming and Algorithms Lab
My impressions thus far:
OChem II (also known as Orgo II, depending) is going to kick my ass. lacha, I can has halp plz?
The lab, on the other hand, involves me following very precise instructions as laid down in the lab book and will not be in any way difficult.
I will not be learning anything from my ProbStats teacher. He's part of the math department* and while every individual word he says makes perfect sense, he can't seem to put them together into sentences that make sense. So instead, my class time will be spent reading the appropriate part of the textbook and doing the homework.
Comm II is the 'how to write a thesis' class. It looks like I will be able to BS my way through most it. The teacher is nice, at any rate.
Awesome teacher, henceforth to be known as Prof. Pete. His real name is something Greek and unpronounceable, but he is very good in English. He apparently started programming back in the days of ForTran (which is OLD OLD OLD school) and knows his shit. His job is to teach me Visual Basic, or How To Make Excel My Bitch. He teaches both the class and lab. I don't anticipate having much trouble with this class.
Booooooks are too expensive. And, as I am a Chem major, I'm taking the class versions geared to chemistry, which is to say: I can't mooch other people's books, they are the wrong books. Damn.
So bear with me while I get settled back into school life, and then I shall get back to writing. I have a couple bunnies hanging in my brain and poking me vaguely, but as always real life will get priority.
bd's tonight, for a fundraiser, and that is All.
*A funny story about our math department. About fifteen years ago, someone went to Russia, shopping for a math department. When they found one, they put it in a big box labeled 'Math Department' and shipped in back to the US. All of our math professors know their stuff. Not all of them know English.
