Yesterday was Sunday. I went shopping. I still felt like a Whale, but the purchasing is done. Total clothing cost about $200, which is pretty much what I expected. That leaves me with less money than I'd like, but I'll have more again after my first paycheck. Not lots more; car loan and gas get taken out, and then my parents take half of it. But more.

Today, I got up godawful early and went to Milford, which is Pretty, and learned more about what I will be doing this term. Yes, I will be watching breaks rust, but at vastly accelerated rates. I'll also be checking paint coverage and driving cars through salt baths and working with high-power microscopes. My boss seems nice. :)

And now the stuff you rlly want:

Warnings: Dan is wildly OOC. HE doesn't swear at all.

“So,” asked Lancer, “what do we know about this ‘Wild Walker’ of yours?”

It was Later. Lancer had had a short talk with Eska, enough to seriously look forward to a longer one, and the Heres Tanarill had explained Walkers with help from Dan. Eska was Doing Something, and wasn’t In, although the sword was safely strapped to Heres Tanarill’s back.

“He’s not my Wild Walker,” said Heres Tanarill, rolling her eyes, “any more than I am your Walker. And we don’t know much. Because we know almost nothing about Wild Walkers as a whole, except how they happen. Abilities: they can do everything I can do and a whole lot more. Weaknesses: they’re insane, but I don’t know if that’s actually a weakness per se.”

“Well, how do you plan to bind it if you know nothing about it?”

“I know me, and I resonate with him. If I get myself bound tightly and along the resonance, it’ll bind him too,” said Heres Tanarill rationally.

“And you need me to bind you,” Lancer deadpanned.

Heres Tanarill shook her head. “No,” she said, smiling. “The angel in my mind will be binding. I’d ask the demon in my heart, but the angel in my mind is better at bindings and I’ll need the demon in my heart free to fight if neces–”

“Your what?”

“Rill has a demon living in her heart,” said Dan cheerfully. “And an angel in her mind.”

“And you sound happy about this because . . . ?”

“Pas likes him. And he likes Pas. It’s the angel who’s mean, but she’s not a problem as long as she does her job, right?”

“Right,” confirmed Heres Tanarill, and then to Lancer’s pained expression, “Look, it’s not that hard. There’s a being that used to be an angel in my heart. I mean, it’s all spirit and that spirit resides in my physical heart. The same applies to the angel in my mind, only it’s still an angel. They tend to cancel each other out, so you don’t sense them unless you look for them. It’s not important, because likely you will never have to deal with them directly. But they can bind my Walker ability along the resonance. I don’t need you for that.”

“Then what do you need me for?”

Heres Tanarill shrugged. “To fight. I’m actually not much more than a very knowledgeable occultist without access to Walker power. Without it I’ll be able to do practically nothing. So we need someone, as many someones as you can get, who can.”

Lancer studied her carefully. “You’re hiding something,” he said at last.

“I’m hiding a lot of things,” she said, meeting his eyes head on.

Eventually, Lancer smiled. “So I see,” and deliberately broke the stare down.

Yeah. Lancer Does Not Like Here Tanarill. I think it's because they're too much alike.
