tanarill: (Science!)
Which I did. I found out about two days before doing so that due to working my ass off, I have a GPA of 3.92 and therefore got to graduate with three golden cords. Only the Summa Cum Laude people get those :D And also I was the only person in my graduating class for Biochemistry. It happened like that because the whole Biochem class was only nine-ish people, and with four commencements a year and Katie deciding to dual major . . . I was it. It's okay, though. I got a departmental announcement all to myself ^_^

Then, because MW is crazy and decided that she could do this from across the country, there was a Large Party planned for the next day. I say planned, of course, because that was also the day on which the first big snowstorm of the year dumped utterly massive quantities of snow all over everything. We still held it, but a lot of people, sensibly, decided not to risk the driving. So we had a TON of leftover food.

This was okay because MW had my car for the next week, so I needed food to eat while I took finals. (Yes, graduate and then take finals. They mail me the actual degree later.) It worked out. Then I moved out, and we began our Epic Drive. But the Epic Drive will take more posts, so I will start with that tomorrow.

Today I went to the dentist for regular check-up. The dentist didn't believe that my teeth grew like this. Of course, they didn't because they grew all impacted and un-impacted only once the wisdom teeth were removed during high school. Or, in other words, my teeth are fine, yeah!

Also, MW found the answer. Transaminase levels in the blood go up because stressed liver cells have more permeable cell membranes, so more enzyme goes into the blood. Apparently it's not just transaminases, but they're a convenient and unambiguous thing to look for. And now I know why the doc is so worried: the liver is where we keep the detox enzymes, which have a nasty tendency to work by creating free radicals and then reacting them in specific ways. This requires them to be very shielded, so that free radicals don't escape and run off and react with important things, like DNA. Only blood and other parts of the body are not. So . . . yeah. Badness. Freaky mutation, possibly cancer-inducing badness. But I'm going to get a liver ultrasound tomorrow, so we can see what is up. >.> Wish me luck!

And now, bed!
