Less Than One Banana
Oct. 30th, 2012 10:53 amMW usually takes me to the train station on Sundays, so I can get back to campus in time for Mondays. Last week, we went a bit early so I could return a sewing kit, but that took far less time than expected. So then we went to the most important store. Then, since there is a small grocery store, MW suggested we go there.
MW: We have less than one banana.
Me: . . . but more than none?
MW: Yes. We have two-thirds of a banana.
Me: Why do you only eat a third of a banana on your breakfast cereal?
MW: It is the right amount.
Me: But even an egg is half a banana!*
MW: [laughs]
Me: . . . [also laughs]
Now it has become a Thing, since by the time MW got home with her bananas, the number of bananas had dropped from less than one to none. So it was good she had purchased them :)
Lately I have been writing a pr0ns. I am finished now, and need a good beta reader. The catch is that it is Legend of Zelda, with a Link/Zelda/Ganondorf threesome. It's meant to go at the end of an epic I am about half-finished with, that involves Link and Zelda conspiring, over the course of two or three hundred years, to knock some sanity into our favorite pig of evil. Long story short, it worked (more or less) so this is consensual on everyone's parts, but they are still working out how their group dynamic goes.
I'm not just looking for spelling and grammar on this one; I need someone who is willing to slog through the third arc of the epic at least, to get some feel for the inside of my Ganon's head, and then be wiling to tell me when the (wildly canon-OOC) characters are getting too my-AU-OOC. Also, of course, there's a lot of nonverbal communication in this one, and I need to know how well that is coming through. So this is my call for betas, if any of you cool people know the fandom/are willing to dive into such a crazily non-canon-compliant AU/can give me an honest cold read.
Poke me if interested!
* This only makes sense if you have ever had to bake for a person with allergies to eggs. In many recipes which call for only one egg, you can substitute half of a banana, mashed-up. It is not quite as good a binder, but it does give muffins a lovely banana undertone.

Date: 2012-10-30 07:49 pm (UTC)Hey, about your Zelda thing, I could post your beta request up on tumblr with a link back here? I don't have a much wider readership than you, but tumblr is... a study in epidemiology waiting to happen. It might get somewhere.

Date: 2012-10-30 08:40 pm (UTC)It is a pretty cool store. The one near our house has a whole section for saltwater taffy. Mmm, taffy.
Er. I have been avoiding getting a Tumblr, but if it is not too inconvenient for you, it seems like a good idea. Thank you! :D
