Quick posting of a DaHTA piece because I haven't posted in too long.

Title: Precognizance
Fandom: ASRP, and no, I do not get money for this, Butch Hartman
Rating: G
Warnings: G-rated=no warnings needed

She gave him warning, made sure not to interrupt anything important, and knocked on the door. It was a small measure of courtesy that had not been present before, and even though he did not need it, it was the thought that counted.

“Clockwork?” Which was another thing. She had called him ‘timekeeper,’ before, in the most contemptuous voice possible, but now she was making an effort to delineate between ‘timekeepers’ and ‘Clockwork.’

“Yes?”

“Even though I don’t think you have because you would have told me, I thought it would be polite to ask-have you been having any seepage lately?”

Clockwork blinked. “Not that I know of.”

Heres Tanarill sighed. “I thought not, but I was hoping anyway. Lately, I’ve been having true dreams.” Clockwork said nothing; whatever else she was, he trusted Heres Tanarill to know what she was doing well enough to recognize a true dream when she had one. “And memories. Of things that haven’t happened yet.”

He didn’t bother asking if she as sure. “And you don’t know why?”

“I know exactly why. Or at least, I know what conditions have been fulfilled every time this has happened in the past. I have to perform a lesser unbinding, usually. It’s just . . . this is unusual. I generally have a static event horizon, but I’ve had several premonitions now, and I’m almost positive that my event horizon is moving further out–.”

“Earliest?”

“Three weeks ago, about an event that happened twenty days ago. Latest was last night, and I think it’s not going to happen for several months.”

He cast ahead, and yes, her event horizon was increasing. To a point. “It will level out soon, and that’s all I can see about you. Walkers are gray areas.” It wasn’t exactly an apology, but it was genuine.

“Nothing wrong, is there?” She sounded alarmed.

“A very great deal,” he responded. “But you wouldn’t be here if there weren’t.”

“True. Well, thanks anyway. I’ll let you know if they don’t even out.” She turned to leave and then added, “Oh, and I . . . thanks. For not being like other timekeepers.”

It was funny, mused Clockwork, that you could love your worst enemies for eternity and hate your best allies. Or . . . well, he didn’t hate her, not anymore, and they were never going to like each other much, but there was an odd sort of friendly rivalry developing.

How unexpected.

And after this, since bas shit alays happens when she goes precognizant, Heres Tanarill goes and finds Clockwork's ballroom.

Tomorrow I will probably try to explain more about simulacra, since Lacha helped me work out the only really significant kink I found. TTFN!

But that would ruin the surprise!

[Must write Heres Tanarill/Freakshow talking. They strike as very good angsting-and-then-going-out-for-ice-cream partners.]
