Aug. 24th, 2011 11:23 amI seem to have wandered off again. Probably distracted by the shiny . . .
On Sunday, the shiny was the local airshow, where we all go mob the (tiny but functional) local airport. It's more the kind of tiny airport where people keep their hobby planes and such. You will remember where my coworker Seamus died in in his hobby plane. I was somewhat bummed being unable to see my friend fly and cheer him on, but they did some memorial flights for him, including sky-writing. So that was nice. And there were planes, from tiiiiiny little ultralights to a big jet.
On Monday, the local community colleges started. Somehow, my brother JJ, who is attending said classes, did not get the memo. But he managed to get there on time-ish. I love my crazy li'l bro.
Also on Monday, I made a fairly boring dinner out of tilapia and other stuff. MW seems to be pressing me to do a "meatless Monday" without any protein. Panda, JJ, and I reject this. I had been trying to please her by not using poultry*, but as long as I am rejecting it I ought to do so thoroughly. Thus, turkey next week :D
Now I have finished all my testing. This is some days ahead of schedule, so Dr. Dave had me do some research using my powers of UCSB internet-access. UCSB, or the UC system really, has access to ALL THE THINGS. So that went well, but now all of us are at a loss about what I ought to do. I mean, usually the last week of work is kind of lazy, but this is ridiculous.
*We Jews have odd ideas about which kinds of protein fall into the category of meat: hoofy animals like moocows are, and birds are, but fish are not. Eggs and cheese are also not, but that at least makes sense, since the eggs and cheese don't require an animal to be dead. And now you know.
