tanarill: (Bitchin')
As you may or may not know, I am friends with a wonderful bastion of awesome known to the world as Carebear. I often go over to her house on weekends, where we bake things because that is what we do.

So, I went there and we made chocolate syrup. It's made of water, cocoa, sugar, and a teensy bit of salt, and it is quite good. But we had nothing to put it in, so we hopped off to the store to buy a Mason jar. Arriving at the store - and this is the kind of place Alton Brown would shop, with its own olive bar and everything - we asked a Friendly Store Employee were to find mason jars. He did not know, so he went to ask the Store Manager.

And, I quote, "'allo 'allo guv'ner."

The manager replies, and I do not make this up, "Roight, what's this, then?"

They keep doing this, while Carebear and I watch in fascination at their horribly bad Cockney and their wonderful humor, and are quite amused while the store manager goes in back to find that, as a matter of fact, they don't have any in the dead of winter with no fresh fruits to preserve. But you know? It was completely worth it for the entertainment value alone.

Or, as Carebear said, "I feel like I just walked into a bizzare Monty Python Sketch."

(The Store Employee said, "Where'd you get the coconuts?")
