Rec: House of the Stag
Aug. 6th, 2009 10:01 pmI still have one drabble to write. That I have no yet written it must, I suppose, mean that I am Lazy. Oh welllll.
The House of the Stag is a book by Kage Baker. Baker has also written the future dystopia Company series, but as I said it contained a future distopia and is therefore not nearly as entertaining. The plot of the second half of House of the Stag is as follows:
Demon Lord: [is lawful evil] Rar! I have Issues regarding the pacifist society which raised me and cast me out when I started killing people!
Saint: [is chaotic good] I am the leader of such people, and as such it is my duty to confront you about all this slaying and maiming.
Demon Lord: . . . marry me?
Saint: . . . sure, why not.
Demon Lord+Saint: [get married and proceed to have lots and lot of alignment-confused children]
I didn't feel like boring you with the first half, which after all is only about the Demon Lord being a gladiator in blood games, and then learning how to be a mage, and Balnshik the seven thousand year old demoness, and being an actor, and then being a mercenary, and then setting up shop in a mountain stronghold. That wouldn't be interesting at all.
While you're at it, check out the previously published but chronologically later Anvil of the World.
