More on Cheesecake (Redux)
Jun. 8th, 2008 10:41 pmSo, although earlier today it was the forty-ninth day of the Omer, which was all seventh weeks, now that the sun has set it is actually Shavuot. We ate lots of food, plus Grasshopper Cheesecake. It's green. It involves Creme de Menthe. It does not, in any way, involve insects.
And then I just went and made another one, because I may have accidentally mentioned to my sorority that this holiday exists and is happening from sunset tonight to sunset Tuesday. Which prompted a demand for Traditional Dairy Food.
A lesson that MW learned the hard way:
YOU DO NOT USE THE LOW FAT CREAM CHEESE IN A CHEESECAKE. The point of a cheesecake is not to consume fewer calories. It is not. If you think that this is the point of a cheesecake, we need to talk. Srsly.
But thankfully, this lesson was learned a long time ago, and MW leaves the Superior-Pie-Making to me. Now If I can only figure out the crust mechanism, all will be well . . .
In other news, the sewing machine that MW owns can go to Hell. And I don't mean the fun kind, in the pimp'd out AS handbasket. Because I mean, it behaved badly, and once I finally thought I had beaten it, the needle broke. I mean, MW had spares, but replacing it is apparently not an Easy Thing. So I will be driving home on Friday to pick up these shirts and then drive back to school. I will, of course steal food, but this universe hating me shit? Has to stop.
This week will suck. That is all.
