tanarill: (Science!)
Boring. Not in the sense that when they give me work it is boring, because overall if they give me work it is fun. They just don't have a lot for me to do . . . if I ask and there is nothing to do, I go and write, or play freerice. My vocabulary is improving, at least.

Today, I turned two large aluminum engine heads into fourteen pieces of scrap and six mounts. That was the morning.

In the afternoon, I took Brinell Hardness readings, Rockwell hardness readings, and played freerice. Near the end of the day a fatigue fractured part came in. I have apparently been given the job of office photographer, because I can work the camera. I have no idea how I'm doing it, but the camera seems to like being in my hands. I've privately named it Ohr. So I took piccus, then we cleaned it with toluene which got nasty and gray colored) and then cleaned the toluene with acetone, and the acetone with methanol, which evaporated. Them it went in the SEM.

You can see individual cycle stress fractures in the SEM. It's amazing.

Then I came home and cooked this Indian thing with vegetables and spice and yogurt . . . pretty good really. I cannot eat anymore. So that is lunch for tomorrow.

I'm really tired today, so I will go to sleep early, probably.
