tanarill: (Science!)
Went all right, this time around. They weren't expecting me for another two weeks XD

This term, I'm in the materials lab (MatLab). This is basically CSI: Metallurgy. They are given parts that failed horribly, either in test or worse, in the field, and told to figure out what went wrong.

This job involves electron microscopes. I will, in all likelihood, learn how to use such a microscope. They are $250,000 a pop. What fun toyz the big boys get :D

It also involves cutting metal, and grinding it, and polishing it, and diamond slurries are used. A diamond slurry looks like muddy water, but it is actually water with diamond dust in. They use cheap industrial cutting diamond, but even so.

Over the next few days, they will teach me to use many Machines, and then cut me loose.

\o/

Also, today I got my third HPV shot. This is Good.
