The Epic Drive, Part 6
Feb. 25th, 2011 07:00 am[comes up for air]
Really, these fics I own people are being remarkably reticent. I'm banging through them, still, but slowly . . . Also,
rtydmartel, I do owe you a thing for a bit of help you offered on my Huje Senior Seminar Paper, so give me a prompt.
Now. Where was I . . . ah, Vegas. Although they say that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, what in fact happened in Vegas was me sleeping through most of Saturday, followed by Cirque du Soleil. I have to pictures of this, because Cirque du Soleil is a camera-free zone. It is in no way, however, an amazement-free zone. At one point, people climbed down the walls headfirst. And there was a drum that the acrobats played in midair. And, for some reason, a Giant Puppet Snail. It rather confused us, but in a good way.
Then on Sunday, we met MW's Fat Cousin Mike. Aside from being fat, he is also kind of awesome, since he's the family member who plays Magic: the Gathering and also WoW and is in general quite cool. We went to pancake breakfast with him. All these cool residents who live on the West side of this country that I didn't know I had . . .
Anyway. Then we drove. It was an interesting drive, because this was just after those rainstorms punished that coast. So we were driving along, and driving along, and this is through a desert. But it was a desert that had recently been rained buckets upon, so instead of water mirages, there was actual standing water, huge shallow lakes. Panda, who had been to the location before on hot trips (to test cars for performance on inclines when they are roasting) said, "But this is not a lake! There should not be water here!"
Nevertheless, there was, and the Lorax trees (which are actually Joshua Trees, but don't tell Dr. Seuss) were all blooming, and so was the desert. It was pretty, in an ephemeral kind of way.
Along the way, we stopped to buy cold cuts, which we took home and ate for dinner. And that is the end of Epic Drive, which went more than 3,000 miles across this great massive country of ours and ended me in California, with my family, where I belong \o/
Next up: about the Go Club :D
