tanarillBut then again, they all are. All of them. Which makes me wonder how these people can be such horrible drivers, when they never have to deal with things like sleet or snow or even rain. Anyway.
A Merry Christmas, to all of you who celebrate it. If you're like me, and you don't, happy Friday.
So, what have I been up to?
Well, mostly not doing anything, which is a perfectly valid thing to do on vacation. Panda and JJ and I saw Avatar. Our impression: the movie is gorgeous, but the plot is utter shite. But it you're the kind of geek who likes believable future-tech and xenobiology, go see it.
Yesterday, we went south to visit Aunt Naomi, Panda's sister and the widow of Uncle Andy. But she seems to be, if not happy, than doing pretty well and ready to move on with her life. Also there was cousin Marcie, who I last saw eight years ago. She's kind of the super-skinny shopaholic California Valley Gurl, but she turns out to not be vapid and stupid and really knows her stuff, as demonstrated by the fact that she's finished with her sophomore year in college at eighteen. Together, we went out for sushi.
Let me make a small, explanatory note here. In America, it is Traditional for Jewish people to eat Kosher Chinese Take-out on Christmas Eve. Instead, we went out to a sushi buffet, which was fabulous and contained far too much food. JJ, however, is demanding that we eat at least one item of Chinese food before sunset so as to be properly Jewish.
Anyway. I am Sick, which is what happens when I travel, even only the few hundred miles to Chicago. And SoCal is quite a bit further. Thankfully, my Sick has manifested this time as an annoying throat-tickle and a slightly elevated need for sleep. Both of which I can deal with if it means not hacking up lungs.
Oh, and to those of in LA, you missed this chance to meet me, or I missed this chance to meet you :< Which makes me Sad, but hey, what can you do?
And later we will go see Sherlock as a family. "Watson, the needle!"
