Epic Dream is Epic

This is actually my dream from last Monday, but I felt the need to share it. Because it was so amazingly awesome.

So, first of all, even though I was dead tired because this was the first week of work term and I am never not tired on the first week of work term, I could not get to sleep. Someone in my family kept talking on the phone in her loud annoying talking-on-the-phone voice, and someone else in my family was making lightsaber sound effects. Loudly enough that I was hearing them (both) through two closed doors.

But, eventually, I got to sleep.

The beginning bit of the dream involved a number of people I have not seen in years, and we all seemed to be in high school. The CASA bus, which took us to and from CASA, had not shown up to take the Ferndale kids, so I was for some reason showing them how to get there via walking. This was odd because, in fact, the environs and people were actually Clawson.

But after a fair bit of walking dreams, which were interspersed with pizza and Amish shopping malls, we got my home. Panda was in the basement, money was given (I have no idea why) and children were taken to the local park for play time.

The park was on a slant, and divided into two neatly trimmed sections with a wild bit in between. So people kept kicking their balls into the wild fenced-off weedy place in between, and then everyone was sad. I have no idea why it was not taken care of like the rest of the park. Anyway. After a while, we decided to play demons, which involved me and a couple other being the "demons" and everyone else sitting there listening to our stories.

And we went from one half of the park (where we had been) to the other, and were still telling stories, when there was a fire. Somehow, everyone now seemed to actually think we were demons and getting everyone to leave involved bodily hauling them through one of the little gateways between park halves. And then everyone was all grateful and being all surprised that we were good demons, even the older kids who really ought to have known better.

Then it got weird, because suddenly we were underground in some kind of weirdly church-thing. The way out involved a tiny little tunnel that was on a ledge at least five feet off the ground, ie, hard to get at without amazing upper body strength and also tiny physical dimensions. I was boosted up to look around and see what was up, but through the tunnel was just a large round room with stairs leading out.

Also behind the stairs was a passage that went in a big circle, around the more-underground room that everyone was in. Across from the stairs out was a much smaller room, with a set of stairs leading down and a much more accessible exit, but there was a big stone door in the way, so no one could get out there. I did not know this because I checked it out, understand. This was dream-knowledge.

I went back down and told everyone, and we started getting the kids out. Obviously they could get out through the tunnel fairly easily, so pretty soon it was just the three "demons" stuck down in the bottom. I decided to try to find a way out, specifically checking the stone door, so I went up again.

It was odd. The lower parts were still quiet and candle-lit, but the upper parts seemed to be some kind of museum/library/shrine. No one seemed very surprised to see me looking at all the little plaques that were like, "And this carving is a depiction of such-and-such event" and "this room is the famous library where this occurred" and so on.

On the other side, the path down to the easy-to access stair version of the door was brightly lit, but it was still closed. There was a large set of statues on a pedestal not too far back, though, and there was this egg-shaped box. The way it worked was that there was a key in the box, but no one could figure out how to open the box to get at said key.

The answer involved a rag, and then the egg opened. The key had a diamond on it. The key needed to be used twice: first on the statue pedestal, which did something to give time. Ben Franklin showed up to ask how I figured it out, and I said that it was obvious if you knew the answer. The door was electronically locked, but the key worked anyway. And then the door was open.

It didn't lead directly into the other room, though. It led into another round room, with alcoves around the edges. In one of the alcoves, there was a stone that you had to move and then there was a drop, like a well. At the bottom was the one that I had come out of, only it was a very long way down. The back of the room had changed, the way dreams do, so instead of a stone door there was a huge sepulcher, with a cylindrical platform directly below the well and stairs that flowed around the platform. Getting on to the platform was tough, since you had to climb, but then it would light-whisk you out, Zelda style.

Ben Franklin was all, "Oh, this is where I'm meant to be", and he lay down on a pile of sandbags and died, kind of.

Then there were coins falling, and filling up the room, and so everyone was going to die unless somehow there was a way out. The other exit was already blocked, and the pillar was too high up. Of course we ran up the stairs first, and as we were running I figured out the carvings. They all looked like stalagmites and columns that had been carved out, but there was a small line running underneath them, and these were weird runic things. I clearly remembered that it looked like DC FF hJ C but the FF and the J were backward. They were words of power, and saying them woke the youngest of the carvings, which was Ben Franklin, to help.

And he showed us that there were two more frames left for someone in the future to become a carving: one across from him, and one more up above. Up above meant up this huge set of stairs, but not all the way up in the room with the pedestal and keys and museum. And also that the one above was six stories tall, and I understood that meant it was for Jesus. Then he pulled the small-across-from-him frame open, and there was a secret passage to get out.

And then I woke up. This was disappointing because there was more dream and I wanted to know what happened, so I tried to fall back to sleep. No such luck.

Oh well. Epic dream was EPIC!!!!!
